Natural slate from Galicia - in harmony with the environment

Do you know that choosing a Galician slate in the form of a roofing or facade coating (and recently it is often used in interiors and landscapes), you get a natural product and focus on saving the environment?

This natural material, created by nature itself many centuries ago, is an oceanic sedimentary rock, and in its production is subjected only to extraction and laying processes, without requiring additional processing.

The simplicity of the production process, which does not require the use of artificial materials, blast furnaces or chemical products, makes it an ideal building product for any project.

Properties of natural slate tiles
The natural properties of slate give it exceptional technical characteristics: a long service life, high load resistance, water resistance, absolute fire resistance and a constant appearance. Slate will remain stable in its technical properties, absolutely resistant to aggressive environments, precipitation and corrosion. All these indicators affect the immutability and durability of the stone.

The longevity of natural slate is a special property that best describes slate from Galicia. According to statistics, more than 60% of all slate in the world is produced in this particular region of Spain.

According to scientific studies and historical buildings, which by their example show the true life of natural slate, it was concluded that the life of the shale is more than 200 years, but this largely depends on the stone itself, its thickness and region of use, as well as the correctness installation.

Slate has high thermal insulation performance compared to other building materials.
The high density of natural stone provides low water absorption - this feature directly affects the strength and durability of the product.

Slate tiles, is a versatile building material that has many properties, one of them is the ease of processing, which facilitates use on any surfaces and complex architectural surfaces.

"Green Line"
The Spanish slate from Galicia is a clear desire for sustainable development of environmental production, which creates a profitable and high-quality work in one of the most leading and dynamically developing global industry in this sector - the extraction and processing of natural stone. The environmental friendliness of the material and the minimum damage caused to nature during production are stimulated and receive maximum benefits from the province of Galicia and the economic parliament of Spain.

In addition, the entire shale industry also contributes to the responsible use of natural resources, in particular water. Natural slate requires a certain degree of moisture for the extraction and tillage process, so for the reuse of water it is necessary to create closed loops that help reduce its consumption.

It is not surprising that slate as a natural stone requiring less processing has lower energy costs compared to other roofing materials, since slate does not generate any type of emissions. The values of energy consumption and, consequently, carbon dioxide emissions always depend on the ease of extraction and cutting. In addition, the durability of the tile allows it to be reused in several buildings during its useful life, which contributes significantly to environmental sustainability.

95% of the total production of Pizarras (with Spanish slate) is exported. The main consumers of slate are France, Great Britain, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Ireland, Denmark, America, and recently, imports of slate have been increasing in the Ukrainian construction market. In addition, the slate sector employs about 2,500 people in Galicia, which makes this industry one of the most dynamic and powerful in the economic sense.

The slate industry has great prospects, and at the moment, the production of slate stone has reached pre-crisis levels and is gaining new markets in the global economy.
A natural product in construction has a great future, since you can never replace a natural with an artificial one.
